If you are a big Mac fan, or even a small one, you will definitely like Mactracker. It is a rich database, which contains everything you need to know about mostly any Apple product, from the first Macintosh models to the modern retina-display Macs. The application also provides a few useful tools, to help you catalog machines and devices you own or owned at some point.

You can either scroll through a long list with everything that Apple has made or use one of the many filters, available on the left side of the interface. You can view them by year, device type, model and by other criteria. Double clicking one of the entries will display a wide range of information on a tabbed window. Besides general information about a machine's hardware configuration, introduction and discontinued years, you can also find various details about its software and operating system, memory and graphics, its history and more.

A neat feature, which can help solve certain arguments, is Mactracker's comparison function. If you select two entries, you can right click them and select the comparison option. This will display the specifications of both machines side by side, on a separate window, on which you can filter all differences.

If you recognize some of the machines and devices in the database, because you own them or have owned them in the past, you can send them to a separate list, where they will be easier to find. Furthermore, the application allows you to specify additional information to devices you own. You can insert a machine's serial number, purchase date, warranty expiration date and more.

Pros

The application has information about almost anything created by Apple. It allows you to search and filter the database, so you can find specific machines faster. It also allows you yo compile a separate list, with models you own.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. If you wish to delve into the history of Macs or impress your friends with a huge amount of information, then Mactracker should not be missing from your applications list.
